The Continental O-300 is an aircraft engine manufactured by Continental Motors. It is a six-cylinder, horizontally-opposed design that produces between 145 and 190 horsepower. The engine is commonly used in small aircraft such as the Cessna 172 and the Piper Cherokee. The O-300 was first introduced in 1947 and was produced until 1968, when it was replaced by the IO-360 engine. The O-300 is known for its reliability and long service life, and many aircraft that were originally equipped with the engine are still flying today.
